These three photos are of the crashed Spitfire LF Mk IX TE5?? ‘IV-8’ of the 7th Air Regiment, 3rd Air Division Czech Air Force in 1946. They show the upper and lower wing insignia over which the IAF applied its ‘Shield of David’ markings. ‘IV-8’ suffered engine failure just after take off from Praha air base at Kbely. The pilot M Liskutín survived. Note that the wing insignia were the standard style before February 1946, and the fin ones for the post February 1946 period. (Y Stepan)
