Following the end of WWII, the British aviation industry was tasked with confirming and developing some of the design research ideas captured from the Germans. One such project culminated in the Boulton-Paul P.111 experimental aircraft. To investigate the possibilities of a plan form wing of 'Delta' shape, the Air Ministry produced specification: E27/46. Powered by a Rolls Royce 'Nene' turbojet engine, the P.111 was designed to be the smallest airframe capable of accepting an ejector seat and functional 'Delta Wing'.
This model includes: a highly-detailed cockpit interior, with a 'Photo-Etch' detailing set supplied by © Eduard, from the Czech Republic. Both Martin Baker Mk.1 and Mk.2 ejector seats are supplied. There are three pairs of 'Delta Wings' - covering the different wing-tip profiles tested during her period at A&AEE Boscombe Down, in Wiltshire, between 1950 and 1958. Four colour schemes are included: a choice of three 'Natural Metal' finish schemes for the original P.111 airframe, VT935 - including her 'Maiden Flight'. Also included is the yellow and black scheme applied to the re-built VT935 airframe, which was subsequently re-designated P.111a.
