Sukhoi S-37 Berkut. Revell Germany kit 04623. 1/72nd
I was pleased with the final result. It fits well into my “strange things with wings” category. Recommended as an easy build and a unique appearance model. It may be a one of a kind aircraft or it may be the shape of things to come.

Sukhoi Su-21F Flagon (Su-15 Flagon F). PM Models. 1/72nd
To my knowledge, this is the only 1/72 scale kit of this aircraft. Anyone wanting to add this impressive fighter to his or her collection needs this kit. It has some problems but is basically accurate in outline and can be easily improved. Recommended with the noted reservations.

IL-2M3 Stormovik, TokoKit Number 101. 1/72nd
I am pleased with the resulting model. The kit went together without major problems and it has the look of the Stormovik. Recommended with the noted reservations.

Polikarpov I-1 (IL-400b). ICM. 1/48th
The actual kit is very neat, with reasonable surface detail (including those corrugations!) and good quality moulding. Itís a simple kit of a small aircraft, and goes together with few problems - except for the wings. The breakdown of these is rather unusual, and produces a major joint line at 2/3 chord. No problem - except when you come to fill it, and realise you are going to have to rescribe the corrugations! Take GREAT care in trimming and aligning the parts, and the problem is reduced, but it is still tricky.

Yak-15 & Yak-17. A Model 1/72nd
Two related kits of early Soviet jet fighters, the -17 being a development of the Yak-15 with tricycle u/c. Both types have been kitted before, vac-forms and injection moulded, but A Model’s new kits supersede all previous attempts. Simple kits, neatly moulded with rather ?heavy? detail, and pretty accurate so far as I can tell.

Yak-1. Accurate Miniatures. 1/48th
AM kits’ quality and detail have been lauded ad nauseum in MMM, each new release raising the standards still higher and causing me to run out of superlatives. Has this sequence been extended? Well, probably not - but I wouldn’t for a moment imply that AM’s standards have slipped. It’s just that the real Yaks are rather simple machines, and the kits represent this perfectly.

MiG-3, A-Model & ICM. 1/48th
Two kits of the same aircraft, both seemingly accurate in outline and major details. But what a difference! A-Model kits are rather variable in quality, usually heavily moulded and needing lots of cleaning up. This MiG-3 certainly needs that (and how!), which coupled with an awkward design means it is a ***** to build. Barry Wood abandoned his in disgust, so I’m not tempted to start mine. Especially now that ICM have released their MiG-3.

DI-6, A-Model, 1/72nd
No matter, we now have a kit of the type. This is a typical A Model product, rather crude and with plenty of flash, but with all the basics to make a perfectly decent model. Surface detail is surprisingly refined, wing and tailplane trailing edges are commendably thin, and for a biplane it looks easy to build.
