Unlimited Class air racers. HIgh Planes 1/72 scale.
High Planes have announced a range of 14 kits of these aircraft, some being modifications of the one aircraft. As this is a specialized interest my references are minimal, but luckily a fellow APMA member has collected much information on the topic.

Detail & Scale No.60: B-25 Mitchell. Bert Kinsey, Squadron/Signal.
Another winner from D&S, invaluable to anyone wanting to build a B-25 in any of its guises. Roll on the AM kits, Iím all ready for them!

P-39 Airacobra, In Detail & Scale Vol.63. Bert Kinzey, Squadron/Signal Publications.
We have the usual D&S approach, with detailed technical histories of the designs, good 1/72nd scale drawings, LOTS of photos (even some colour WW2 shots), colour artwork, and a section on P-39 and P-63 kits available. For the most part the book is well-written and authoritative, and describes clearly the differences between variants.

Grumman FF-1. MPM. 1/72nd
This is the first 1/72 scale acceptable injection moulded kit of this subject ( there may have been an earlier crude cottage industry offering) and its issue has helped me to add another model to my US Navy display without having to resort to a vacform kit!

Vultee P-66 Vanguard. Sword. 1/72nd
The completed model looks really good and convincing when compared at similar angles and scale distances (as I always do with a finished model) to photos of the real thing. It is not as simple to build as a mass-produced long-run kit, but as with many of today's short-run kits, a little effort and patience rewards you with something that looks far better than many big name products. A must for the USAAF WWII fighter enthusiast, the Sino-Japanese war buff and anyone else who just wants something that little bit different in their collection. Nice box art too.

Martin AM-1 Mauler, Czech Master resins. 1/72nd
The kit consists of forty parts for the aircraft, plus a further sixty-one finely-detailed resin parts for the optional armament fits of torpedoes, bombs, and rockets. A clear vacform canopy is provided, and a decal sheet, by Propagteam, is supplied, which offers two options, one in N.A.T.C. markings, the other in the markings of an aircraft of VA-174. Colour side views are included with the kit, and the instruction sheet supplied is in exploded view form, so should be easy to use.

Grumman F3F-1, Accurate Miniatures. 1/48th
AM’s latest gem is one of the delightful family of portly Grumman biplane fighters which, resplendent in aluminium lacquer and chrome yellow, were such a colourful part of the aviation scene in the ‘30s. The kit in essence is an F3F-2, with parts to back-date it to an F3F-1. A ?real? F3F-2 will follow soon.
