Trumpeters P-40B in 1/48 has copped a fair bit of criticism on various web sites. Mainly directed at the cockpit and rivet detail.

Mustang MK. IVA. 48th scale, Tamiya
This natural metal Mustang Mk IVA (P-51K-10-NT, U.S. serial 44-12355) was the personal aircraft of Wing Commander (Flying) James Storrar and was fitted with an Aero Products prop, Dallas hood and exhaust shrouds. There exists much controversy when it comes to the colours applied to Storrar's aircraft and what I present is my best assessment based on the available references.

The 'Edmonton Special' P-51D Mustang. Hasegawa 1/32 scale
As good as the Hasegawa Mustang is, it does not hold a candle to the latest P-51D's released by Tamiya or Hasegawa in 1/48th scale. Keeping this in mind, I decided that if this model was to compete on equal ground with these newer releases it would need some help.

F9F-5 Panther, Grumman. 1/32nd, Fisher. Part 1
Fisher Model and Pattern issued a 1/32 kit of the Grumman F9F-5 Panther as kit number 3201 in 2005. It is a very impressive kit in full resin with additional etched metal parts and nice decals including stencilling. The Panther kit costs about U$ 150,= and although at first site not cheap, you get a very impressive and nice model well worth the money. Certainly compared to good injection moulded 1/32 kits , the price is competitive
